A new YouTube app for Android devices has been released. The most significant new feature is the option to stream whatever you are watching on YouTube directly to your TV screen via the Google TV box.
YouTube stream to Google TV
Android has lacked a method of streaming content between devices for a long time. Airplay, for example, has been available on Apple devices for many years now so it is interesting to see that things are changing on Android. Miracast was recently integrated into Android and now this.

The new YouTube Android app lets users stream YouTube to the TV screen via the Google TV box
The new YouTube app for Android has a new, small TV screen icon. When pressing this icon the YouTube video will be streamed to your TV via the Google TV box.
- “Just find a video on your YouTube app for Android — like the latest video from GoPro or H+ The Digital Series — click the TV icon that appears, and the video will play instantly on your Google TV,” YouTube Product Manager Timbo Drayson says.
While streaming you can use the smartphone or tablet as a remote. Other users can also add items to the playlist.
The new YouTube feature is only available for Android for now. YouTube says: “stay tuned to see this feature coming to more devices and screens in the future”.
