LG and Philips have already unveiled 21:9 monitors and now Dell follows suit.

Dell unveils the U2913WM in the extra wide 21:9 format
The new 29-inch U2913WM is here. The monitor is wider than a typical widescreen monitor and utilizes a resolution of 2560x1080 pixels which should offer lots of desktop space. The monitor is based on an IPS panel with wide viewing angles and LED backlighting which also helps to reduce power consumption.

The monitor is aimed at amateur graphic designers, photographers as well as other space-consuming tasks, including office use. It has even been factory calibrated to comply with the sRGB gamut. U2913WM can be connected to PCs, Macs, Blu-ray players and game consoles via DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort and D-SUB (VGA). It also has built-in USB inputs. A so-called Display Manager function can even help you place windows side by side on the desktop.
Dell U2913WM is available now in Europe from www.dell.co.uk and should be available shortly from www.dell.com. The price is lower than expected and U2913WM is cheaper than for example the 27" Dell U2713HM.
The question is; do we really need 21:9 monitors??
