Samsung & LG escalate patent fight
Samsung and LG are South Korean competitors but have often been referred to as big and little brother. However, the air between the two has become increasingly heavy as the battle for the next big revolution in display technology, OLED, intensifies. The two are already accusing each other of stealing, of patent infringements, and of other things in courts.

Samsung wants to stop sales of the LG Nitro smartphones that utilizes the AH-IPS panel
Samsung has decided to take the fight into LCD territory. They accuse LG of downright stealing their PLS display technology and claims that LG basically has taken the PLS technology and renamed it AH-IPS. AH-IPS enables high-resolution LCD panels. Samsung hopes to have 7 LG patents invalidated.
Samsung also seeks $1.9 million in damages and a sales ban on phones that utilize the AH-IPS panel technology, including LG’s Nitro.
The two Chaebol are currently fighting the battle in courts and it seems that the tone is becoming increasingly harsh. Let’s see what happens from here.
