Nintendo has announced the TVii platform for Wii U. TVii is a complete internet-based TV platform with access to Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, Facebook, twitter and much more. Nintendo hopes to create a complete living room entertainment box.
Wii U is more than a game console
Wii U is obviously a solid game console but Nintendo wants to make it an entertainment center with access to TV services, too. The TVii platform will launch in USA and Canada today (December 20th).

Users can navigate the TVii platform from the Wii U gamepad display and project all the fun to the big screen. A range of internet video services are available and Nintendo will add more services later. A cool cross-search feature also allows you to search for content within the different video services from one unified search box.
TVii is also compatible with TiVo DVR but TiVo integration and Netflix will not go live before 2013. See Nintendo’s introduction video below.
