Netflix demonstrates 4K streaming
It is no secret that Ultra HD – or 4K - was a big thing at CES 2013. But questions arose following the unveilings; What about content? And what about players?
Netflix is already developing and testing the necessary technologies to make 4K streaming reality. Netflix even has a fully functional version and they demonstrates it at CES together with Samsung and one of Samsung’s new Ultra HD TVs.

FllatpanelsHD asked a Netflix executive about the plans for 4K. Netflix sees no need to rush at the moment and is currently waiting to see what happens in the market place. Even though they have a fully functional technology Netflix has no official plans to introduce 4K streaming in 2013.
Netflix points out that almost no one own a Ultra HD TV today but another obstacle is the lack of 4K support on media players today. 4K streaming also requires a lot of bandwidth, which means that viewers need a fast internet connection.
Netflix uses the so-called adaptive streaming technology, which means that in the future they can add a 4K layer on top of the current Super HD layer; provided that the viewer has a 4K player and a fast internet connection.
