At CES 2013, Sharp unveiled two new 60-inch Ultra HD TVs. One of them has Sharp’s ICC Purios picture system and is the first 4K TV with a THX certification. The TVs will be available this summer.
Sharp’s new Ultra HD TVs
Ultra HD was the new big thing at CES – you might have noticed that by now. Sharp has been one of the big proponents for 4K TVs for some time and in Las Vegas Sharp announces its first two Ultra HD TVs for the US market.
Sharp unveils the 60-inch ICC Purios Ultra HD TV
The first one is a 60-inch Ultra HD TV with Sharp’s proprietary ICC (integrated cognitive creation) processor that is said to improve picture quality to new levels by reproducing the way the human brain responds to light. Sharp says that this helps to create a more immersive experience with pictures that appear real to the human eye. ICC has been co-developed with I-cubed Research Center.
The high-end 60-inch model is also the first 4K screen to achieve a THX stamp for its impressive and accurate picture characteristics. Sharp calls it the Purios.
Sharp also plans to release a cheaper 60-inch Ultra HD TV without ICC and without THX. Instead, this TV will introduce Sharp’s Moth Eye filter that aims to eliminate glare during daytime.
