Netflix announced that it had 29 million subscribers just 3 months ago. Fast forward three months to the fourth quarter of 2012 and Netflix has 33 million subscribers, following a successful Nordic launch and growth in other markets. Netflix is also profitable again.
Netflix has 33 million subscribers
Netflix is doing well. Over the span of just three months they have added more than 4 million new customers to its streaming service. Netflix now has 33.25 million subscribers to be exact, with 27.15 million in the U.S. and 6.1 million in its other markets, including Canada, Latin America, the UK and the Nordics.
For the fourth quarter of 2012, Netflix posted revenue of $945 million USD and a profit for all markets of $8 million USD. The profit was unexpected as Netflix posted a loss for the last quarter and after the launch in the Nordics that required investments. Netflix’s international markets revealed a loss of $105 million USD but the US activities more than leveled that.

Reed Hastings, Netflix CEO, says that Netflix has over 33 million subscribers worldwide
Netflix calls the Nordic launch “very successful” but offers no hard numbers.
No new markets
Netflix says that they have no plans to enter new markets until late 2013 or 2014. Instead they hope to build up its presence in existing markets. Netflix also says that they are very excited about the exclusive shows that are coming soon. Exclusive shows will help differentiate Netflix from competitors and serve as “advertising” for the Netflix streaming service.
