Samsung launches 4 new 2013 Blu-ray players
Samsung is updating its line-up of Blu-ray players. We only saw one new model at CES but now cheaper variants have been revealed; two with Smart Hub and three with 3D. The flagship BD-F7500 can upscale to 4K resolution.Samsung’s 2013 Blu-ray players
Samsung’s new Blu-ray players range from the BD-F7500 to the low-price BD-F5100. In between we find the BD-F6500 and BD-F5500 models. All four can obviously play Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs. All except the BD-F5100 also supports 3D Blu-ray.
Samsung BD-F7500
The flagship BD-F7500 has a new design with a combination of a metallic silver look and glossy black. It offers 4K scaling, which seems pretty unnecessary since all Ultra HD TVs have built-in upscalers. In addition, Samsung has incorporated its full Smart Hub platform with TV apps, DLNA, AllShare Play, WiDi and so on; basically the same functionality as in Samsung’s 2013 Smart TVs.
Samsung BD-F6500 and BD-F5500 looks identical
The main difference between the BD-F7500 and BD-F6500 is 4K upscaling, only one HDMI output on BD-F6500 (two on BD-F7500) and no 7.1 analog audio output on BD-F6500. BF-F6500 still offers the Smart TV features.
The BD-F5500 no longer offers the Smart TV features but still supports DLNA and 3D playback. It also offers a coaxial audio output instead of optical.
Samsung BD-F5100
The low-end BD-F5100 has no Smart TV features and no 3D. It still offers Dolby TrueHD audio support as all of the other models as well as other features found in the other models such as a USB port that allows you to connect a USB hard drive or USB stick.
