Netflix continues to announce new TV series
Sense8 will be created by The Wachowskis, the duo behind movies such as The Matrix and V for Vendetta, as well as J. Michael Straczynski who has created the Babylon 5 series. Details on Sense8 are still sparse but The Wachowskis say:
- ”Several years ago, we had a late night conversation about the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us, and out of that paradox Sense8 was born."
Netflix wants to turn the TV industry on its head
Just a few years ago it was impossible to imagine that streaming services could compete with the big TV networks. When new shows and movies premiered it would always be on major TV channels.
Netflix wants to change that by creating its own, exclusive content and release it worldwide at the same time. In February, Netflix released House of Cards with Kevin Spacey in the lead role. On April 19, 2013 the new horror series Hemlock Grove will premiere. In December, Netflix’s Turbo: FAST that has been created in a collaboration with DreamWorks will be added to the streaming service. Netflix has even acquired the exclusive rights to new Disney, Pixar and Marvel movies (after the movie theatre premiere).
Sense8 TV will be released in late 2014. Just like previous TV series from Netflix, all episodes will be released at the same time.
