Seiki, a Chinese brand, has officially announced the first affordable Ultra HD TV. The new 50-inch TV will start shipping out to customers in USA this month with a $1500 price tag. A 65-inch version will arrive later in 2013.
Seiki’s 50” Ultra HD TV is affordable
Most major TV manufacturers have announced Ultra HD TVs by now but none of them are even close to being as affordable as Seiki’s first Ultra HD TV. The low price is achieved by utilizing a panel from the upcoming Chinese display manufacturers that have made significant progress in recent years.
Seiki has announced the first affordable Ultra HD TV
The panel inside is a 50-inch 120 Hz LCD panel with edge LED backlighting. The panel has a 3840x2160 pixel resolution with four times more pixels than a conventional Full HD TV – also referred to as Ultra HD or 4K resolution. Seiki says that it will support 24, 25 and 30 Hz 4K signals.
Seiki is a Chinese manufacturer with an annual production of about 10 million TVs. They own TV factories in China.
Seiki’s 50-inch Ultra HD TV, SE50UY04, is starting to appear in stores now and is available through Amazon
