Amazon is said to be working on a streaming TV box that will be released this fall, according to Businessweek. Amazon hopes to take on existing boxes such as the Apple TV and Roku.
Kindle TV box to challenge Apple TV
Amazon recently introduced its first real tablet and they are also working on a TV box for video streaming that can be connected to any TV.

Amazon is said to be working on a ”Kindle TV” box
Businessweek has talked to ”three people familiar with the project”. Amazon is said to have worked on the device for several years in Lab126 in Cupertino. The project is being run by former Apple, Cisco, TiVo and Vudu employees. The box would obviously connect to Amazon’s own Prime video service but possibly also other streaming services.
Amazon recently made a big bet on exclusive content in a similar manner to Netflix's push for exclusive content. Amazon has aired several pilots for TV shows and has also acquired exclusive rights for existing shows.
With a potential TV box Amazon could challenge the Apple TV and Roku boxes that have become very popular. "Kindle TV" is suggested as a potential name but the sources say that no decision on the final name has been made.
