Plex is one of the most popular media center solutions for movies and other media files. A new hack called PlexConnect enables you to get full Plex media player functionality on your non-jailbreaked black Apple TV box.
Get Plex on your Apple TV without jailbreak
Some users “jailbreak” their Apple TV box to unlock extended functionality. Jailbreaks take a bit of skill and can remove some of the existing features of the Apple TV. However, PlexConnect requires no such jailbreak – but still requires a bit of technical skills.

Basically, PlexConnect works by taking over for example the Trailer app on the Apple TV. By using Plex on a PC or Mac, PlexConnect masks itself as the Trailer app and sends a list of your movies, music files, video clips and photos to the Apple TV box.
In that manner PlexConnect can transform the Apple TV into a full media center solution for your media files stores on a PC or Mac. And you can still use the other features of the Apple TV box, including iTunes and Airplay.
