In the latest round of rumors, we hear that Google is preparing the release of a dedicated video game console. Wall Street Journal also claims that Google is developing a new version of the Nexus Q.

WSJ says that Google is developing three new products; a wristwatch; a video game console, and a new version of the Nexus Q. All three will be powered by the Android operating system.
Games for Android and Apple’s iOS have become increasingly more sophisticated and we have recently seen some former console games being rereleased for the mobile devices. Google hopes to utilize that to build a real game console for the home living room TV. WSJ says that Google’s efforts are partly motivated by the expectation that Apple TV will morph into a living room game console at some point.
Google has seen very little success with its Google TV efforts, with only LG being a significant TV partner. Google is said to be working on a video game console
Google seems to be in a state of confusion with its TV efforts. They launched the failed Google TV initiative a couple of years and have continued to update it without any breakthrough or significant partnerships with TV makers – despite the promise of the opposite. Later, Google launched the separate Nexus Q that was canceled before reached the market. Throughout 2012 and 2013 we have also started seeing Android HDMI sticks for TVs.
WSJ says that at least one of the three new products will be released by this fall.
