Philips presents Elevation, its thinnest TV to date

Philips has unveiled its thinnest TV to date. Philips Elevation expands the Ambilight concept that can now illuminate all four sides of the TV. Elevation will be available this fall in 60 inches.

Philips Elevation is just 13.5 mm deep, making it the thinnest Philips TV ever. The bezel around the picture panel is just as minimalistic and has been reduced to a minimum.


Elevation is Philips’ thinnest TV to date

The central idea behind the Elevation TV is to expand the Ambilight concept. With Ambilight XL Philips’ TV can illuminate all four sides of the TV – even when mounted to the wall. Philips believes that the new Ambilight system creates an “illusion of a TV floating in a big, warm halo of light”.


It is also Philips’ only TV that has 4-sided Ambilight

On the technical side Philips mentions the Perfect Pixel HD engine with 900 Hz Perfect Motion Rate, designed to smooth out movement. The TV also supports passive 3D technology that allows users to experience 3D by using the inexpensive polarized 3D glasses from movie theatres.
 

Philips Elevation TV

Elevation features Philips’ Smart TV Premium platform with TV apps and internet services. Users can also mirror the screen from a smartphone or tablet onto the TV screen and stream TV channels onto the mobile devices. The TV can be controlled via the MyRemote app, available for Apple iOS and Google Android. It has built-in USB recording and WiFi.

Philips’ 60-inch Elevation TV will be available in Europe in the third quarter of 2013 for Ł2800. The TV will be exhibited for the first time during IFA 2013 in Berlin this September.
