BSkyB and others recently invested $60 million in Roku; the maker of small media boxes. With its access to Roku’s technology, Sky has launched the NOW TV Box for just £10 in the UK.
Sky launches ÂŁ10 Roku-inspired media box
The small streaming box looks remarkably similar to Roku’s boxes and measures just 84 x 84 x 24 mm in size.

The box offers access to BBC iPlayer, Demand 5, BBC News App, Sky News and most importantly the new Now TV subscription service from Sky. It seems that Sky’s investment in Roku has partly been motivated by its desire to create a great streaming box for its own services.
Sky says that other services will be added soon, including Spotify, Facebook and Flickr. However, do not count on seeing Netflix in the mix as it is one of the direct competitors to Sky’s Now TV service. New customers can try Now TV free for 30 days. After that it will cost you £15 per month and Sky Sports can be added on a pay-per-view basis.
The NOW TV Box is available from nowtv.com for just ÂŁ10, including shipping.
