Soundbars have become increasingly popular as an alternative to big bulky home cinema sound setups, and Sony takes it up a few steps with its latest HT-ST7. It is a high-end soundbar that carries a $1,299 price tag.
Sony releases high-end HT-ST7 soundbar
Sony has announced its latest soundbar and the company’s first-ever entry into the premium soundbar market. The soundbar is optimized for music playback and movie watching. Sony says that it can even imitate a 7.1 surround sound.

Inside the aluminum cabinet you will find nine independent speaker drivers and seven discrete amplifiers. The HT-ST7 supports the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats and has been developed in collaboration with sound engineers from Sony Pictures Studios. It uses the same magnetic fluid speaker technology used in Sony’s 4K TVs and also has a wireless subwoofer.
Sony says that the HT-ST7 has built-in Bluetooth with AAC and AptX support so users can stream music wirelessly to the system. It incorporates One Touch NFC so Android owners can tap the soundbar with their phone to enable music playback. It also has 3 HDMI ARC connections, 3 digital audio connections and 1 analog audio connection.
Sony HT-ST7 is available at Sony Stores and at other retailers now for $1,299.
