After adding new apps in June, Apple has just added five additional services to the Apple TV: Vevo, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Weather Channel, and Smithsonian.
Update: ESPN has also added ESPNews and ESPN Deported channels in the WatchESPN app.

Apple has added five new services to its “Hobby” Apple TV project, but there is still no news on an actual app store, despite the continued addition of apps.

One of the new services is the music video platform Vevo that offers 24 hours a day music video streaming. The app on Apple TV is believed to be part of Vevo’s plan to distance itself from YouTube.
Two Disney apps have also been added with Disney Channel and Disney XD. The last major addition is the Smithsonian app that serves up content from the Smithsonian Channel.
The new apps automatically pop up on your Apple TV welcome screen. No software update is required. The update apparently also breaks the Plex hack through the Trailers app, several Plex users have reported.
