Just days after Sony unveiled its third generation of the Personal 3D Viewer it is reported that Sony is actually working on a far more capable virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 4. It is believed to work similarly to the Oculus Rift.
Sony working on Virtual Reality for PS4
Sony’s first three 3D headsets work in a manner that can best be described as looking at a large canvas from a distance. It is not an actual virtual reality experience like the Oculus Rift can offer. But that could change in the near future.

Sony is reportedly working on a VR headset that will work similarly to the Oculus Rift; one screen with a huge field of vision. The VR headset has been designed for PS4 gaming, and internally it has been demonstrated with the racer game DriveClub, according to the report. It relies on a range of sensors that allow users to look around in for example a cockpit.
Sony had planned to unveil the headset at Gamescom in August, but plans were cancelled at the last minute. It is now expected to appear sometime in 2014 – just like the Oculus Rift. It will be sold separately from the PS4.
