At IFA 2013, Philips has introduced a range of new PC monitors, including a 144 Hz gaming monitor, a new 23-inch touch monitor for Windows 8, and new all-in-one monitors with built-in Android.
Philips’ new monitors
Philips’ latest gaming monitor is called 242G5DJEB ,and as the trend dictates it comes with a 144 Hz panel; the next step after 120 Hz that arrived a few years ago as a welcomed improvement over 60 Hz monitors.
Philips’ new 144 Hz monitor for gamers
Philips has integrated game profiles for specific games, optimized in collaboration with gamers. Users can switch between modes with the bundled SmartKeypad remote. The monitor can also be connected to smartphones and tablets via MHL or to a PC via DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI or D-SUB (VGA). It uses a 24-inch TN panel with 1920x1080 pixels.
Philips’ new multi-touch monitor for Windows 8
Philips is also launching a new 23-inch touch monitor, designed for use with Windows 8. It supports up to 10 simultaneous touch points, and works similarly to touch screens in modern smartphones and tablets. Philips lists a few additional features such as a built-in camera, speakers, and a microphone.
Philips’ new IPS monitor with built-in Miracast
Lastly, Philips will release new all-in-one monitors with integrated Android. The idea is to let people access Android apps directly on the monitor, such as Netflix, Amazon Instant and games. In the photo above you see one of Philips’ new all-in-one monitors with built-in Miracast that allows Android smartphone and tablets owners to wirelessly clone mobile screen to the PC monitor.
Philips will showcase its new monitors at IFA 2013. They will be available soon. No pricing details have been announced.
