In Samsung and LG’s eternal battle for the bragging rights LG has announced a smartphone called Flex G with a "real" flexible OLED display. The word "real" is a reference to Samsung’s Galaxy Round and speculation about whether it really uses a flexible OLED display.
The battle of the "real" flexible OLED display
It may seem like a war of semantics rather than technology, but LG has unveiled a new smartphone with a curved OLED display by the headline: World's first "real" curved smartphone.

As you probably know, Samsung recently unveiled the Galaxy Round with a curved OLED display, and in that context LG’s headline might seem confusing. However, it is a clear reference to Samsung following speculation that the Galaxy Round uses an OLED display based on a curved glass screen instead of a real flexible OLED display made from a plastic layer.
LG says that the 6-inch display in their Flex G is based on plastic. It is mounted in a fixed frame, but if you were to remove it from the frame it would be flexible. LG also calls it the world’s largest flexible OLED display.

Lastly, LG says that they have collaborated with LG Chem to develop a curved battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh.
LG will launch the Flex G in South Korea this November. Availability in additional markets will be announced later.
