Dell announced their first 4K monitor in July and the UltraSharp 32 is now officially available from Dell’s online store. The 31.5” UP3214Q has 3840x2160 pixels, 10-bit colors and an IGZO-based IPS panel.

Dell’s first 4K monitor has arrived. It’s a 31.5-inch mammoth with 3840x2160 pixel resolution for professional graphics, video, game development, and photographic tasks. Dell also promises “exceptional color accuracy” as it comes pre-calibrated (Delta-E<2) from the factory.

The monitor has a classic Dell look with a matte black and a silver-colored base. The stand offers height, swivel, and tilt adjustments.

The UP3214Q also boasts true 10-bit color support and is capable of reproducing the sRGB color gamut and 99% of the AdobeRGB color gamut. Other technical specifications include 176/176 degree viewing angles, 8 ms (g2g) response time, 350 cd/m2 brightness, and 1000:1 contrast ratio. The 4K panel is based on the 4K TV standard with 3840x2160 pixels in the 16:9 aspect ratio. The IPS LCD panel inside is based on IGZO TFTs that are said to offer faster pixel mobility and higher transparency, and thus lower response time and higher brightness/power efficiency.

The monitor can be connected to a PC via DisplayPort, mini DisplayPort or HDMI 1,4, but be aware that only DisplayPort can provide 3840x2160 pixels at 60 Hz. HDMI cannot go higher than 30 Hz at that resolution. UP3214Q also has a 4-port USB 3.0 hub and a 6-in-1 media card reader.

Dell’s 4K UP3214Q is available from Dell’s online store now, although only in the Hong Kong section. It costs HK$41,899, which is equal to about $5400 USD.
