Samsung has revealed details about its new TV remote ahead of CES 2014. In 2014, Samsung wants you to wave your hand in the air. The new TV remote supports gestures and has natural voice recognition.

Samsung’s new remote will come included with the new 2014 Smart TVs. Samsung wants to simplify things so the new remote has fewer buttons and an oval shape, mimicking a remote that Philips released a couple of years ago, but quickly dropped again.
Samsung highlights a few new features, including a new hand gesture system that has been incorporated. The gesture system lets you you wave your hand to the sides or other directions to perform actions on-screen, not unlike LG’s Magic Motion remote.
Just like last year’s version, the new remote has a touch pad in the middle. The channel number keys are gone, but a new m.screen button is added. The “Multi-Link screen” button lets you watch multiple things on the same screen. Lastly, Samsung promises natural language recognition that allows a TV viewer to speak commands. Voice recognition has been part of Samsung’s smart remotes for several years without much success.
Samsung’s 2014 remote will come bundled with the new 2014 Smart TV, and likely also Samsung’s new Smart Evolution Kit that upgrades older Smart TVs.
