At CES 2014, Samsung has announced several 4K streaming partnerships with partners such as Netflix, Amazon, and several other content providers.
Netflix and Amazon 4K streaming
Netflix’s 4K streaming will work on Samsung’s new Smart TVs, as well as LG’s 2014 TVs, when it launches in the first half of 2014. But Samsung has even more.
Samsung has also partnered with Amazon that will offer 4K content from their own studio and several other content studios. Via Amazon’s Instant Video, Smart TVs can stream 4K video into your living room. Samsung has also partnered with Comcast and DirectTV to provide 4K content, but right now details are light. In addition, Samsung will also sell new TVs with a UHD video pack; a hard drive with movies and documentaries in 4K resolution.
Samsung is looking to really speed up adoption of Ultra HD / 4K in 2014. We have yet to see all of Samsung’s new 2014 TVs, but we are pretty sure that Samsung has tons of Ultra HD TV coming out.
All of Samsung’s announcement are US-related, except for the Netflix partnership that will bring 4K streaming to all Netflix countries. It is still unclear how Samsung is planning on pushing 4K in other regions.
