Vizio's first 4K TV will sell for just $999

Everyone at CES seems to have 4K - or Ultra HD - TVs to show off, including Vizio that is the best-selling TV brand in the US during many months.
The interesting thing about Vizio’s 4K line-up is that it will start at a reasonably $1000, making it considerably cheaper than 4K TVs from brands such as Samsung, Sony, LG, and Panasonic. As for content Vizio believes wholeheartedly in streaming delivery via HEVC decoding, which is built-in. Vizio also promises to bring Netflix’s 4K streaming to their 4K TVs via a Netflix app.
Vizio calls the new 4K TVs “the culmination of advanced picture quality, powerful performance and a beautifully simple Ultra HD experience”, and adds that the TVs have local dimming with 64 LED zones, which should offer deep black levels. With the introduction of 4K TVs, Vizio is also moving away from 3D. There is no 3D capability in the new TVs.
