Sony has announced four new Blu-ray players from the high to the low-end. The top-of-the-line model comes with 4K upscaling, and a dual-core processor for TV apps. All of the new players offer access to TV apps.

Sony is still committed to Blu-ray and has announced four new players for 2014. Highlights include a new Super Quick start-up mode (less than 30 seconds from start to playback), TV app support, and wider codec support for video files, including .mkv.

Sony is trying to differentiate the models with new features such as 4K upscaling and Super Bit Mapping, but 3D playback is found in all of the players, except the cheapest. Sony also says that two of the players offer a new, improved WiFi antenna (but still n WiFi) that should offer better stability while streaming from the internet or a home server via DLNA.
All of the players offer access to the Sony Entertainment Network, in other words TV apps such as Netflix. However, only the most expensive player implements a dual-core processor for faster navigation and a better app experience. The two 6 and 5 series models also offer screen mirroring via Miracast and Sony’s Triluminos picture system (only works with "Mastered in 4K" Blu-ray discs) that Sony started implementing into its top-range TVs last year.
Sony’s BDP-S6200, BDP-S4200 and BDP-S1200 Blu-ray players will launch in February 2014, and the BDP-S5200 will launch in April 2014. Prices are $180, $140, $120, and $90, respectively.
