Best Special Effects over time
The video starts in 1977 when Star Wars won the title "Best Visual Effects" title at the Academy Awards, going through classics such as Indiana Jones, E.T., Terminator 2 and The Matrix up to modern cinematic art such as Inception and The Life of Pi.
The winner for 2013 is yet to be found. Five movies are in the running: Gravity, The Hobbit, Iron Man 3, The Lone Ranger and Star Trek Into Darkness. Watch the 5-minute video below, and see which film won for each year since 1977 here.
