Now everyone can develop Chromecast apps

The Chromecast SDK (software development kit) is now open to all developers. As a result we can expect a flurry of new apps for the small, inexpensive TV dongle.

More Chromecast apps incoming
The Chromecast is a promising little piece of hardware, but despite several new apps in the recent months it still lacks a larger and more regional app catalogue. That is hopefully about to change as Google now allows all developers to integrate Chromecast support in apps.

We expect to see several video and music focused apps and services embrace the Chromecast, but also hope to see more creative uses of the TV dongle.

Chromecast is still only officially available in the US, but an international launch has been rumored for some time. With local app makers now able to develop apps for the device, Google can certainly appeal to more markets.
