Google Play Movies comes to 40 new countries

Google has expanded the Google Play Movies service to 40 additional countries, including several European countries. With Google Play you can buy or rent the popular Hollywood movies on tablets, smartphones, and Android TV sticks.

Apple’s iTunes has been available in many countries for some time, but Google’s movie service has been more limited. That changes now with the addition of 40 new countries.

The full list of new countries includes: Aruba, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, Gabon, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Ivory Coast, Luxembourg, Mali, Mauritius, Namibia, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Niger, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Rwanda, Senegal, Sweden, Togo, Uruguay, Venezuela and Zambia.

From Google Play Movies you can buy or rent new and old Hollywood movies. The app works on all recent Android devices, including tablets, smartphones, and the so-called Android TV sticks that can be connected to a TV via HDMI.

It is also possible to watch movies on a PC from the play.google.com website. You can check out the catalogue and prices on the website now. Most movies are available in HD quality, and you can also download movies for offline viewing - for example if you are planning to watch a movie on your vacation.

The Google Play Movies app is free and available for smartphones, tablets and Android TV sticks here. The Google Play movies services is now available in 63 countries, paving the way for a global launch of the rumored “Nexus TV box”.
