AOC launches all-in-one monitors with Android

23 Mar 2014 | Rasmus Larsen |

It is starting to look like a trend. Philips has already announced Android-based PC monitors and Smart TVs, and AOC is now launching two all-in-one monitors with Android.

Monitors with Android apps

Android’s arms are far reaching. The mobile OS has already invaded Android sticks for TVs and Google’ operating system is now coming to monitors. The idea is to have access to –among others -video streaming apps on a larger screen.

AOC Android PC monitor

AOC’s monitors are based on a quad-core processor and are stand-alone, meaning that you do not have to connect a PC at all. It is more like a giant Android tablet with a touch screen for your desktop table. If you want, you can obviously also connect a PC via one of the HDMI or D-SUB inputs. AOC believes that the monitors are ideal for both homes and businesses.

Two monitors will launch in 21.5 and 23.5-inch sizes called a2272Pw4t and a2472Pw4t, respectively. They also include USB 2.0 ports and a micro USB port for cameras. On top of that, AOC has found room for a built-in video camera, a microphone, and 2W speakers. WiFi is integrated, too, so all you need is a power cable.

AOC’s Android-based monitors will be available soon.
