Samsung’s 2014 HDD recorders have built-in Blu-ray, Smart TV, and Multiroom support for wireless speakers. They are rolling out now in Europe. The difference between the two new BD-H8900 and BD-H8500 is the capacity of the HDD.
BD-H8900 and BD-H8500
Samsung has unveiled their 2014 HDD recorders. Instead of three models, Samsung will only launch two models in a shrinking market for stand-alone recorders.

The BD-H8900 has a 1 TB hard drive with plenty of room for TV recordings. The BD-H8500 has half, 500GB. Besides that they are virtually identical. Both can handle 3D and 2D Blu-ray, DVD, and CDs and also access TV apps such as Netflix and YouTube.
A new feature is "Multiroom" that allows you to connect the player wirelessly to Samsung’s new wireless speakers. This allows you to create surround sound set-ups without all the cable clutter. Samsung’s 2014 Smart TVs offer the same feature.
The HDD recorders feature dual-tuners for recording and watching TV channels at the same time. WiFi is integrated and Miracast, too. Miracast makes it possible to mirror the image on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet onto the TV screen.
The two HDD recorders will be available in select European countries. The BD-H8500 is rolling out now. See the price here. The BD-H8900 will be available soon, too.
