This could turn out to be one of Microsoft’s strongest cards in the race with Sony’s PlayStation. The Xbox One can run Windows 8 apps, making it far easier for developers. Microsoft will also produce exclusive TV content.
Windows 8 apps on Xbox One
Microsoft has Windows 8 on phones, tablets, PCs, and the Xbox One. Developers will be able to create universal apps that works on all of the devices - at least if Microsoft approves the apps.
It could attract developers of for example indie games and streaming TV services, or at least make the Xbox One the preferred TV platform, as Sony has no such advantages with the PlayStation 4.

Microsoft also has plans to produce exclusive TV series for Xbox One owners. Shows include the thriller Humans, a sketch show called JASH and a stop-animation series by Seth Green. Microsoft also previously announced a TV series based on the popular Halo game and a documentary about Atari. Microsoft says that all shows need an interactive or gaming angle.
Microsoft’s Xbox One is available now in select countries, but has been delayed to September 2014 in most regions.
