Samsung is looking to expand their Ultra HD line-up with a new massive 85-inch model in the existing HU8550 range. The UHD TV will sell for less than $10,000, significantly less than Sony and LG’s 84-inch models.
Update: FlatpanelsHD can confirm that it is also coming to Europe in August. Presumably as the UE85HU7500.
Samsung to debut huge UHD TV
This is interesting. If the price turns out to be true, Samsung is aggressively expanding into the large-size TV segment. Sony’s 84” 4K TV is currently selling for $25,000 and LG’s for $15,000. Samsung’s “old” 85-inch UHD TV – the S9 easel TV – is selling for $40,000.
So a $10,000 85-inch TV is certainly appealing - and not out of the range of possibility for enthusiasts. It will be part of Samsung’s HU8550, which is the flat model. It will feature all the new features, including Smart TV and apps, quad-core processor, Smart Interaction, and the latest picture systems. It is also One Connect Ready.

The news has been leaked by HDGuru, but the TV is already showing up at some retailers with a $9998 price tag. It is expected to ship next month.
There are no words on a European version (HU7500) of the 85-incher yet, but we are trying to confirm the launch with Samsung.
