Apple has added more channels to the Apple TV box with ABC News, PBS Kids, Willow TV, AOL On, and a redesigned Flickr app. Apple continues to neglect international viewers.
More apps for Apple TV
Apple has added quite a few new apps to the Apple TV over the last year. In December Apple added Bloomberg, Crackle, WatchABC and KORTV.
Yesterday’s update included ABC News, which consists of mostly news clips, and is free to use. PBS Kids offers TV shows for children and is also free. AOL On offers access to AOL’s video catalogue of news, sports and video games as well as AOL produced shows. Willow TV broadcasts cricket matches and more in the US and Canada for $15 per month.
The Flickr app has also received a redesign with interesting new features and improved search.
Despite several new apps on the small black box, Apple continues to neglect international viewers. Only a few local services have been added over the last couple of years, and even though many unsupported services works via Airplay, this is not an optimal solution for everyone. The rumored app store would be a welcome change.
