Last week, rumors pointed to an imminent launch of an 85” Samsung Ultra HD TV. Samsung has now confirmed the existence of this model. It will be available in late-June for $9,999. FlatpanelsHD can confirm that the 85” will also launch in Europe.
Also cheaper UHD TVs
The new 85” will be part of the HU8550 series of flat Ultra HD TVs in the US. The European version is called HU7500. The price below $10000 is noteworthy as many comparable large-size TVs typically cost more than double that number. A 75” version is available for $5,999, says Samsung.
Samsung will also release cheaper UHD TVs in the curved HU7250 series (HU8200 in Europe) and the flat HU6950 series (HU6900 in Europe). The HU7250 UHD TVs will be available in August in a 55” model for $2,199 and a 65” for $3,299. Samsung’s HU6950 will be available late-June in a 40” model for $999, a 50” for $1,499 and a 55” for $1,999.
