Chinese TCL has unveiled two new Ultra HD ranges. The cheapest model - a 40-inch TV - will start at just $500. TCL will also introduce an 85-inch TV for $8000.
TCL’s five new 4K TVs
Like several other Chinese TV makers, TCL believes that the time is ripe to get a foothold in the TV market outside of Chinese borders. The plan is clear; Chinese TV makers want to ride the 4K trend by underbidding established TV brands.
That is why TCL is now introducing five new Ultra HD TVs. The premium range is called UH9500 and consists of three TVs in 55, 65 and 85-inch sizes called 55UH9500, 65UH9500, and 85UH9500. They will sell for $800, $1300 and $8000, making the 85-inch even cheaper than Samsung’s new 85” UHD TV.
The UH9500 models are minimalistically designed with very thin bezels. The TVs also integrate HDMI 2.0 and HEVC decoding, but there is no word on 4K Netflix streaming.
TCL will also launch cheaper 40 and 49-inch Ultra HD TVs in the UE5700 range for $500 and $600, respectively. Both TVs offer HDMI 2.0 but no HEVC decoding. TCL argues that they are designed to work with external 4K players.
