At IFA 2014, Sharp is launching its first Ultra HD-tv. The new UD20 range will be available in 60 and 70 inch sizes with prices starting at around 3400 Euro.
Sharp's first Ultra HD TV
Earlier this year Sharp launched a new TV format with an effective resolution between Full HD and Ultra HD, but UD20 is a genuine Ultra HD with HDMI 2.0.
Sharp is highlighting the new "Rich Color" system that can reproduce a 23% wider color gamut than conventional HD TVs. However, it also requires content encoded in the wider gamut. In addition, Sharp says that the UD20 has received the 4K THX certification for its excellent picture quality.
The design is sleek and stylish with a brushed aluminum frame, but the sound is still powerful, promises Sharp. The speaker system is built by Yamaha. You also have access to Smart TV features and apps such as YouTube and Netflix. However, there is no mention of Netflix in 4K. Lastly, Sharp says that UD20 has Miracast screen mirroring and DLNA.
UD20 will be available later in September in 60” (LC-60UD20EN) and 70” (LC-70UD20EN), priced at 3400 and 4600 Euro.
