Netflix officially opened its service in France yesterday and Germany today. Other countries will follow very soon, and Netflix is entering Europe in a big way that could disrupt the TV industry.
Major European push
Netflix is already available in the UK, the Nordic countries and the Netherlands. The Nordic launch was called the best Netflix launch ever, and now Netflix is entering some of the biggest countries in Europe.
Netflix launched in France yesterday for 7.99 Euro per month. Many movies and TV series are speech synchronized in French, but Netflix is also letting viewers pick the original language version. Local content is also available. Today, Netflix has launched in Germany, another major European market. Netflix’s own original TV series such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black will also be available.
Netflix already has apps for pretty much any device known to man, including TVs, game consoles, smartphones, media streamers, tablets, and PC/Mac. When Netflix enters a new market they just flip the switch to make all the apps available, which gives the viewers the option to watch TV on their own terms – at home or on the road. In other European markets, Netflix has already had a major impact on the TV and movie industry.
In the next days or weeks, Netflix will expand to Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Netflix is also rumored to enter Spain and Australia in 2015.
