BenQ unveils 27" BL2711U 4K monitor with HDMI 2.0

04 Nov 2014 | Rasmus Larsen |

BenQ has unveiled a new 27-inch monitor with 3840x2160 pixels and a 10-bit IPS panel. It will feature both DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 ports.

A smaller 4K monitor

A 27-inch panel might be too small for 1:1 pixel mapping in Windows, but if you are using Windows 8.1 or Mac OS X there are some interesting 2x scaling options that will make text and objects look crispy and highly readable. BenQ’s new monitor is aimed at that group of users, typically working with CAD/CAM or photography.

The BL2711U has 3840x2160 pixels and operates at 60 Hz. It builds on an IPS type panel (AHVA) and is also capable of reproducing 10-bit colors. The color gamut is sRGB, so no AdobeRGB, which might disqualify it for some graphical work. BenQ says that it is also flicker-free and that it uses a low blue light mode.

The monitor has a very basic design with a black, matte frame that offers height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustment. It is also wall-mountable and includes PIP and PBP functions. Another interesting detail is the HDMI 2.0 port in addition to the DisplayPort 1.2 port. Lastly, BenQ highlights built-in speakers and a 4-port USB hub.

BenQ has not released pricing or release details yet.
