Acer has unveiled the new 27-inch XB270HU with 2560x1440 pixel resolution, 144 Hz, and G-Sync. The gaming monitor will compete head-to-head with the Asus Swift PG278Q.
Acer unveils XB270HU
Gaming monitor development has accelerated in recent years with higher frame rates and new gaming-specific systems to improve motion. Acer’s new XB270HU builds on one of the most recent systems, more specifically Nvidia’s G-Sync.
The 27-inch monitor uses a TN panel with 2560x1440 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. Acer says that it has below 1 ms (g2g) response time and that it supports 3D Vision, as well as the new ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur) mode, which is now part of G-Sync. Not all of the systems can play together at the same time, but gaming performance should still be great and comparable to the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q.
Acer is also highlighting a flicker-free backlight for better eye comfort, and an ergonomic stand with height, swivel and rotation adjustments. The XB270HU only comes with a DisplayPort 1.2 connection, which is required to use G-Sync.
Acer XB270HU will launch in some European countries this month (update: not until Q1 2015), but no price information has been announced yet.
