Sony has already confirmed that it will integrate the Android TV platform from Google, and now the first details have leaked. The first Sony Android TVs will launch in February 2015 with PlayStation Now and Remote Play. Prices will start at about $700, according to mobilegeeks.
Sony Android TV details leak
Sony, Sharp and Philips have been confirmed as Android TV partners along with several media box partners. From 2015, TV manufacturers will abandon their in-house TV platforms and start using Google’s new Android TV platform.
The first Sony TV with Android TV will reportedly be released in late February 2015, which is not surprising as this just follows Sony’s yearly schedule for TV releases. However, some of the other details are very interesting.

The sources say that the TVs will feature PlayStation Now (at least in the US), allowing Sony TV owners to enjoy PlayStation games without the actual console. You just need to connect a PlayStation controller to the TV via bluetooth. PlayStation Now streams PS2 and PS3 games, but no PS4 games yet. It is also said to be linked to Google Games, but it is unclear how it works.
Additionally, Sony’s Android TVs will support PS4 Remote Play, allowing you to stream games from you living room PlayStation 4 into the bedroom TV over your WiFi network.
Android TV has a separate Google Play store from other Android devices. Here you can download apps such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, and much more. The remote for Sony’s TV will come with a microphone for voice search and will also feature NFC.
The source says that the Sony Android TVs will start from about $700 for a 43-inch Full HD model, and range upwards to $4000 for high-end Ultra HD TVs. Sony will reveal the entire 2015 TV line-up at CES 2015 in January. FlatpanelsHD is there to give you all the details.
