webOS 2.0 with more 4K content
LG launched its first Smart TVs based on the webOS platform this year with the slogan “Make TV Simple Again”, and at CES 2015 LG will unveil the next generation of the platform.
The updated platform will have an “outstanding user experience unmatched by any competing system”. LG is also promising more 4K content, including Netflix, which was added this year, and 4K content from Amazon, which recently expanded its Amazon Instant Video service with movies and TV series in 4K resolution.

Other improvements for webOS 2.0 include 60% faster boot time, and 70% faster start-up time for apps. LG also says that navigation is now faster and smoother. Another new feature is My Channels that allows users to customize their favorite TV channels on the launcher bar at the bottom.
- “With the newest features introduced in webOS 2.0, the overall user experience has become even simpler, easier and more intuitive. The webOS platform is a great example of our commitment to taking a leadership role in the next generation TV market with a truly innovative Smart TV solution.” said In-kyu Lee, head of TV at LG.
LG confirms that it has sold over 5 million webOS TVs to date. The new webOS platform will be unveiled at CES 2015 that kicks off on January 5, 2015 but it is unclear if the current webOS models will be updated with the new webOS 2.0 features.
