At CES 2015, Samsung launched three new curved monitors for your desktop. The most expensive SE790C comes in 29 and 34-inches with 3440x1440 pixels, but Samsung is also launching a more affordable SE590C.
Samsung SE790C and SE590C
While many people have reservation towards curved TVs, curved monitors seem to be getting a decent amount of love. After several others manufacturers have announced curved monitors, Samsung is joining the pack.
The most impressive of the two is the 34-inch SE790C with 3440x1440 pixels and 3000R curvature. It is an ultra-wide monitor in the 21:9 aspect ratio, which aims to replace your side-by-side multi-monitor setup on the desktop. Samsung believes that the curved format is more “immersive” and the curve also seems to make more sense when you sit so close to the screen compared to a TV.
Samsung’s SE790C has built-in 2x7W speakers and some dynamic picture systems that you can turn off, if you like. The monitor is based on Samsung’s own SVA panel, which is a variant of VA that has higher contrast and deeper black, but narrower viewing angles compared to the IPS panels found in most other curved monitors. It is also flicker-free.
Additionally, Samsung is launching the smaller and more affordable 32-inch SE590C monitor, which is also curved as well as the flat SE510C (24 and 27-inch sizes) and a "TV-ready" 27-inch TD590C screen.
Samsung's 34-inch S34E790C is available for $1200 dollars / Ł799.99 punds now. It will also be available in a 29-inch version called S29E790C.
