Seiki unveils 32 and 40" 4K monitors with DP 1.3
Seiki has been selling affordable Ultra HD TVs for some time now, and will enter the monitor segment in the first quarter of 2015 with two 32 and 40-inch 4K monitors. The monitors will offer DisplayPort 1.3 and HDMI 2.0.Two new Seiki 4K monitors
Seiki introduced two new monitors at CES 2015. The announcement might be slightly confusing to those who remember Seiki’s first announcement, but it seems that Seiki has changed its plans.
The new monitors will offer 3840x2160 pixel resolution in 32 and 40 inch sizes, using VA panels. Seiki also mentions 12-bit color processing, but there is no mention of the actual bit depth for the panels (likely 6-bit + dithering). The monitors will support 4K resolution at 60 Hz.
Confusingly, Seiki mentions both HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 in the specs as well as DisplayPort 1.2 and DisplayPort 1.3. It seems that an updated version will be available in Q2, based on the information in the specifications list. Either that or Seiki has a plan to offer a firmware update.
Specifications:
The monitors will be branded “Seiki Pro” and will be available in 32” (SM32UNP) and 40” (SM40UNP) in Q1 2015. No pricing details were been announced, but Seiki said at CES that the 40” will launch for under $1000 dollars.
