If you want something extraordinary, Samsung suggests that you buy its new 82-inch TV. It has been designed by acclaimed designer Yves Behar, and is the first result of a new collaboration between the two.
Samsung TV designed by Yves Behar
Yves Behar has designed everything from shoes to game consoles, and apparently he has also been involved in Samsung's new high-end TV called S9W. The curved TV rests on a "gallery" base, which makes it appear as a "sculpture", according to Behar.
When you turn on the TV the cover of the base tilts open to let sound out, seasoned with some lighting effects along the edge. The base even lets you turn the TV from side to side via the remote control. You can read more about his thoughts here.
Inside there is a curved 82-inch LCD panel in the ultra-wide 21:9 format. It has all of Samsung’s latest imaging technology under the S’UHD umbrella, including quantum dots and HDR. The “5K” resolution consists of exactly 5120x2160 pixels, which is the equivalent of “4K” 3840x2160 pixels – just wider. You will also get the new Tizen operating system.
The TV is the first product to come out a grander collaboration between Yves Behar's Fuseproject studio and Samsung. What comes next? Only Samsung knows. The same is true for the price, because Samsung is not telling – at least not yet. The S9W will be available later this year, and we think it is safe to assume that the price tag will include a lot of zeros.
