HP has 5K, 4K and curved monitors coming out

13 Jan 2015 | Rasmus Larsen |

HP had a big line-up of new monitors to announce at CES, including a 5K IPS monitor with 5120x2880 pixels. HP will also release a “Virtual Reality Display” and several curved monitors.

New 5K, 4K and curved monitors

HP has lots of new monitors coming out in 2015. The most impressive is probably the 27-inch HP Z27q, which has a 5K panel. It also boasts a 10-bit IPS panel with sRGB and AdobeRGB support, but lacks a DisplayPort 1.3 input so you need to connect it via 2xDisplayPort 1.2 ports. It is expected to launch in March for $1300.

HP will release a cheaper 27-inch 4K monitor called Z27s. It too uses an IPS panel, but there is no AdobeRGB support. It can be connected via HDMI, DisplayPort and mini-DP and should be available later in January for $749, which looks like an attractive price for a 4K monitor. A smaller 24-inch 4K Z24s will also be available in April for $549.

Additionally, HP will release three curved monitors in 27 and 34-inch sizes called S270c, 27c, and Z34c. The latter offers 3440x1440 resolution in a VA panel with sRGB. It also has built-in audio and two HDMI plus one DisplayPort. It should be available in April for $1000. The two other curved monitors offer 1920x1080 pixels in either IPS or VA panels. Besides that nothing out of the ordinary. The 27c is available for $400 now.

Lastly, HP has a weird “Virtual Reality Display”, which tracks your head movement to give you 3D by wearing glasses. It sounds like a pretty basic 3D monitor, so the strange name is probably just marketing. It uses a TN panel with 1920x1080 pixels. No price yet.
