Apple will unveil its vision for the digital living room in June at the annual WWDC conference, according to sources to spoke with BuzzFeed. Apple will also launch a new Apple TV box with an App Store, Siri and much faster hardware.
New Apple TV at WWDC 2015
The report comes with John Paczkowski who has a past writing for AllThingdsD and Recode - and now BuzzFeed. He has spoken to his usual "sources familiar with the matter” and has leaked correct information about Apple on several occasions.
The new Apple TV will represent Apple’s vision for the digital living room. It will be the first version with a full app store, just like the one on your iPhone and iPad. Developers will be able to release apps and will be provided the tools to do so at WWDC where Apple will details its TV SDK. The box will not only offer TV streaming apps, but serve as a hub for music, home automation and other apps, according to the report.

The hardware will be upgraded and Paczkowski believes that it will use the A8 chip or a variant hereof. It will also come with a dramatic increase in storage capacity over the current 8 GB. The user interface will receive a facelift and it will also support Siri voice control. Furthermore, the box will use Homekit to enable home automation and a new remote control is also on the drawing board.
The report comes shortly after Apple and HBO announced that HBO Now is coming exclusively to Apple TV and following rumors of a TV service from Apple. No information on the price was provided. We will find out whether the rumors are true in June at WWDC.
