Netflix officially launches in Australia & New Zealand

Netflix has today launched its service in Australia and New Zealand. Prices start at AU $8.99 per month, but you will have to pay AU $14.99 if you want to be able to stream in 4K Ultra HD.

Netflix is continuing its global expansion in a goal to be the first truly global TV service. Australia / New Zealand is the first expansion in 2015, but Netflix expects to be available in every country just two years from now.


Netflix is undercutting several existing Australian services such as Quickflix and Presto with its AU $8.99 starting price. The monthly price options are as follows:
AU $8.99 – SD quality, 1 stream
AU $11.99 – HD quality, 2 streams
AU $14.99 – 4K quality, 4 streams

Netflix in Australia will include all of the popular Netflix original series, including House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Marco Polo, and the new Bloodline series. Netflix will also start releasing movies later this year that will debut simultaneously worldwide.
