Dolby is building momentum for the launch of its Dolby Vision technology and the first Dolby Cinemas. The first TVs are coming later this year, but if you want to experience Dolby Vision as soon as possible you can start counting down to May 22 for the premiere of Disney’s Tomorrowland, followed by Pixar’s Inside Out.
Experience Dolby Vision next month
Vizio’s Reference TV will be the first TV with Dolby Vision, and a few days ago it was announced that Warner is currently planning to release six catalogue titles in Dolby Vision later this year.
But if you want to experience Dolby Vision as soon as possible you will have to travel to one of the new Dolby Cinema locations in Los Angles, Kansas City, Houston and Atlanta. There is also one in Eindhoven, Netherlands, and one in Barcelona, Spain.
Disney and Pixar are launch partners for Dolby Vision and Dolby Cinema. Disney’s Tomorrowland will premiere on May 22 and Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out will premiere on June 19. These two are the first movies that have been created in the Dolby Vision format that combines 4K with HDR (high dynamic range), and wide color gamut. In the Dolby Cinema you will get all that plus Atmos sound.
Disney’s The Jungle Book, due out April 15 2016, will also be available in Dolby Vision.
