LG lowers price of its HD OLED TV to $2500
LG has officially slashed the price of last year’s OLED TV - the 1080p EC9300 – to a recommended $2500, and retailers have already started selling it for an even lower price.
Now selling for $2500
When LG introduced its first OLED TV you had to cough up $15,000 for the pleasure. Last year, LG introduced the EC9300 at a much lower price and with a range of new 4K version in sight LG is shaving off another $1000, from $3500 to $2500.
To be clear, some retailers have sold the OLED TV for less as part of promotional activity, but this is the first time that the suggested retail price has been this low for any OLED TV. Samsung also had a brief flirt with OLED a few years ago but was unable to drive down costs, leaving LG as the only manufacturer. Samsung is expected to return and other manufacturers are also eager to do so.
The 55-inch 55EC9300 has a 1080p OLED panel and offers the webOS platform with apps.
Best Buyis selling LG’s OLED TV for $2500 and Amazon has started selling it for just $2350
