Evidence suggests that a larger iPad could launch quite soon. It will feature a 12.9-inch display with a resolution of 2732x2048 pixels. It will reportedly also work with a "stylus".
A larger "iPad Pro"
The largest iPad today measures 9.7 inches but several sources point to a larger model that could be released later in 2015 or in early 2016. A so-called "iPad6,8" has begun showing up in app statistics and the new iOS9 system refers to an iPad with a resolution of 2732x2048 pixels.
This would mean that the screen has a pixel density of 264 ppi (pixels per inch), which is exactly the same as the current iPads. It also means that Apple is likely to call it a “Retina display”. However, there are no signs to suggest that Apple will switch away from LCD technology.
Another source claims to know that Apple will introduce a "Force Touch stylus" alongside the new larger iPad. The stylus will be able to sense varying pressure levels, allowing you to use it the same way you would use a pencil or pen. An improved touch technology is believed to make the display more sensitive.
When Apple first demonstrated iOS9 at WWDC a few months ago, the company also revealed plans to introduce split-screen viewing of apps. The larger iPad would be able to run two apps side by side at almost full resolution compared to the current iPad Air that has a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels.
A larger “iPad Pro” has been rumored since 2013 but the latest evidence suggest that it could launch quite soon. Apple is expected to hold its annual autumn media event on September 9th.
